Guiu was initially set to join Sunderland for the upcoming 2025-26 season. However, circumstances have changed, and he will now be returning to his parent club earlier than expected.
Guiu played for Sunderland in just one match, a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town in the League Cup. He scored a goal in this match, but unfortunately, Sunderland lost the game on penalties.
The reason for Guiu's early return is due to a serious injury to another Chelsea player, Liam Delap. Delap picked up a hamstring injury during Chelsea's 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.
Chelsea was initially focused on stopping another player, Nicolas Jackson, from joining Bayern Munich on loan. However, the club has since secured a more favorable deal with Bayern and decided to recall Guiu from his loan at Sunderland.
As a result, Jackson is now expected to join Bayern Munich with an option to buy, rather than a simple loan deal. The deal will only be triggered if certain conditions are met.
