McClaren took the job after serving on Erik ten Hag's staff at Manchester United and had been leading Jamaica for the past 18 months.
In a statement, McClaren said that he had given his all to the position and that leading the team had been a great honor.
However, he also acknowledged that football is a results-driven sport and that Jamaica had fallen short of their goal to qualify from their group.
McClaren took responsibility for the team's failure and decided to step down as head coach, recognizing that a new perspective and energy might be needed to move the team forward.
