At the funeral, Villas-Boas expressed that they were working with agent Jorge Mendes to bring Jota back to FC Porto in 2026-27. He had previously shared this intention with Jota through Mendes at his wedding.

Villas-Boas paid his respects to the family and remembered Diogo as a silent hero who stood for more than just his on-field performance. He also highlighted Jota's contributions to the club, including his partnership in the Esports team.

Regarding membership, Villas-Boas stated that Jota became a member of the club posthumously. He also announced that the club would symbolically return the membership fees of Jota's brother, André Silva, to his family.

Condolences were extended to Jota's teammates from various clubs, including Liverpool, Wolverhampton, and others who lost a great friend.
